Keep or Sell in Build A Car Empire
The green check and red X are the whole skill ceiling. Here is how to use them.
Every roll in Build A Car Empire ends on a lift with two giant buttons: a green check and a red X. Official art puts a white glove on those buttons for a reason. This is the decision that turns crates into a collection or into a junkyard of blue Koopers. This guide is the rule set. Use it before you enable Auto Sell.

What the buttons do
Green check — keep. The car becomes a parked printer and a collection entry. It spends a slot. It should raise cash-per-minute or be rare enough that the slot is the collection itself.
Red X — sell. The car becomes cash. You lose the model. You should do this on purpose, not because you mashed.
There is no documented undo. If Auto Sell is on, the red X can fire without your thumb. That is why Auto Sell is a mid-game gamepass, not a tutorial buy.
A rarity cheat sheet
Use official banners until we have a bigger car tier list:
| Result | Example | Default call |
|---|---|---|
| Common | Kooper | Sell after you have one printer |
| Epic | Aventa | Keep the first; sell later duplicates if slots are tight |
| Exotic | Concept Ghini | Always keep |
If a new chip color appears, default to keep until you know whether it is above Epic. You can sell a duplicate later. You cannot un-sell a first Exotic.
Early lot: one printer, then fuel
Your first keep should be whatever generates cash, even a Common. Your second Common is fuel. A lot of five Koopers is not a collection — it is a blocked shop. The showroom screenshot is full of unique bodies. Copy that idea, not the Common count.
If cash cannot buy the next crate, you kept too many. Sell the weakest printer. How to get money is the longer version of that sentence.
Mid lot: uniqueness beats duplicates
Once Epics exist on the asphalt, Commons are almost always sells. Duplicate Epics are case-by-case:
- Keep a duplicate if an upgrade path wants stars or copies (not confirmed — only keep if the HUD says so).
- Sell a duplicate if slots are full and a new unique banner is the goal.
Exotics never become “just a duplicate” until you already own that banner. Concept Ghini is a 1-in-920-million event on the official thumbnail. If you sell it because Auto Sell was hungry, that is a settings error, not a strategy.
Auto Sell, Auto Roll, and the board
Auto Sell is for the rarities you have already decided are fuel. If the pass is a toggle per rarity, mark Common. If it is a global toggle, only enable it while you watch the first few results.
Auto Roll will feed the board faster than you can think. Pair it with Auto Sell only after the cheat sheet above feels automatic. If you are still guessing on Epic, stay manual. The getting started session should be fully manual.
VIP does not replace this decision. A nicer HUD still needs a keep/sell brain.
Emotional traps
- “I rolled it, so I must keep it.” No. You paid for a roll, not for a museum piece.
- “I will keep Commons until I get an Exotic.” Your slots will die first. Exotic odds are 1 in 920,584,217.
- “I will sell the Exotic for a huge crate streak.” Only if you already own that banner. First copies are collection. Cash comes from Commons.
- “The purple BMW on the icon is a keep forever.” The icon is marketing. Rank the live banner, not the app icon.
A 10-second script at the lift
- Read the rarity chip, not just the paint.
- If Exotic → keep.
- If Epic and you do not own it → keep.
- If Common and you have a printer → sell.
- If you hesitate, keep. Hesitation means you lack data, and sells are irreversible.
Then go back to rolling only if crate luck says you can afford the miss. The board is the skill. Luck is a multiplier on the board. Codes, if they ever exist, are a timed multiplier on the same board.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for crate rolls, cash, and collection questions.
Should I keep every car I unbox?
No. Commons are usually sells after you have one printer. Exotics are always keeps. See the table above.
Can Auto Sell destroy an Exotic?
If the pass sells more than Commons, yes. Turn it off until you know the filter. Details on gamepasses.
I sold a unique car. Can I get it back?
No undo is documented. You roll again. Use the 10-second script so it happens less.
Is a duplicate Epic a keep?
Only if slots are cheap or an upgrade tooltip wants copies. Otherwise sell and hunt unique banners on the tier list.
